Old Trafford to Witness new Ronaldo?

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly interested in signing Chilean star Alexis Sanchez, who is compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, in a bid to bolster his squad.
Sanchez, who currently plays for Udinese FC, caught many eyes after putting in some fantastic displays for Chile in the World Cup. He was expected to leave Udinese to a bigger club, but things did not materialise and he stayed there.
Now, Sir Alex is looking to add that touch of pace that has been lacking since Ronaldo left by signing Sanchez, who is known for his skills and pace. Reports states the transfer is most likely to take place in the summer but there is an outside chance it might go through in the January transfer window.
However, the player's agent was reportedly to have said recently that Sanchez will not leave in January and there are a host of clubs vying for his signature, including Manchester United.
This is definitely an exciting prospect for United but what remains to be seen if he comes is that whether he can prove himself in the Premier League. If he does, he would definitely inject pace and intensity further into United's play.
The view of Nani and Sanchez bombing down the flanks would certainly appeal to most United faithfuls.
According to the pundits, if United do decide to make an official bid for the player, it would cost them around 16 million pounds to land him.

Sagna Hits Backs at Evra

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has hit back at Patrice Evra's criticism of the Gunners ahead of Monday's trip to Manchester United.
Arsenal travel to Old Trafford aiming to cement their place at the top of the table and prove their title credentials this season.
Evra has stoked the fires ahead of the meeting between the two rivals by claiming Arsenal were in 'crisis' and nothing more than a 'training centre' after going five years without a trophy.
Sagna is unhappy with fellow Frenchman Evra's criticism and has accused him of showing a lack of respect to Arsenal.
"I would never allow myself to criticise another team," Sagna is quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror.
"It shows a lack of respect. Patrice loves to wind people up and raise the temperature.
"That is his way of doing things, but it does not affect me in any way."

Chilean Miners to Attend Man United vs Arsenal Game

Some of the Chilean miners rescued after two months trapped underground have arrived in England to watch Manchester United play Arsenal in the Premier League.
The men flew into Manchester airport as guests of the 18-time English champions, who host Arsenal on Monday.
The trip was organized with Chilean wine producer Vina Concha y Toro, which sponsors United.
United great Bobby Charlton suggested inviting the miners to meet the players and watch a match while he was visiting Chile.
Thirty-three miners were rescued in October after being trapped in the San Jose Mine in Chile's Atacama Desert.

Fletcher: I'm Not a Dirt Player

Darren Fletcher insists he is not a 'dirty player' following past criticism from Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
The midfielder's performance in Manchester United's home win over Arsenal last season prompted Wenger to question the approach of the Scotland international.
Ahead of Monday's showdown with the Gunners at Old Trafford, Fletcher has defended his style of play.
Fletcher is not dwelling on Wenger's criticism and believes referees are aware of his combative approach to helping United win games.
"Things are said in the heat of the moment and I would rather not dwell on it," said Fletcher.
"I don't think I'm a dirty player, I know I'm not a dirty player.
"I go to win the ball and sometimes you give away fouls doing that, but it's not malicious. It's all part of the British game.
"The referees here use a lot of common sense and they know when players are generally trying to win the ball and those going out to hurt people."
Fletcher also believes that Samir Nasri poses the biggest threat to United on Monday, with the midfielder having scored 12 goals this season.
"He's their form player right now," added Fletcher. "He's looking determined, the player who has taken on the mantle of being the man to make things happen."

Rio eyes new United Deal

Rio Ferdinand has revealed he would like to win a new deal to end his career at Manchester United.
The England captain has two years to run on his current contract, but he would be happy to extend it to stay at Old Trafford for the rest of his career.
The 32-year-old has struggled with a series of injuries over the last two years, but the former Leeds and West Ham man hopes to prove to Sir Alex Ferguson he deserves a longer stay at United.
"I want to finish my career at United," Ferdinand told the Daily Telegraph.
"I have two years on my contract, and if the manager sees that I am fit enough, a four-year deal at that age would be great."

Alex Furguson stunned by Long Reign

When Ferguson takes his place in the dugout for the match at Chelsea on December 19 he will have been in charge of the club for 24 years, one month and 14 days, one more than Busby's total during two stints - from October 1945 to January 1969 and December 1970 to June 1971. It is a quite staggering achievement considering the size of United, and bears testament to Ferguson's willingness and ability to regenerate successful teams while retaining the enthusiasm to keep turning up for work day after day. "I could never have imagined that I would surpass Sir Matt's longevity." Ferguson said. "When I came here, my main thought was to win the league and that was my driving force. "I couldn't visualise that I would end up with 24 years behind me, going into my 25th year. "I could never have imagined that in a million years." As Ferguson surveys the way managers tend to be treated by trigger-happy boards these days, he must feel thankful that Martin Edwards had the strength of character to stand by him during those difficult early days. Ferguson also benefited from the presence of Busby, plus Sir Bobby Charlton, who remains such a familiar figure at Old Trafford and always ready with a bit of advice. "You don't have that in a lot of boardrooms," Ferguson added in the Daily Telegraph. "You only need to look at Bayern Munich as a great example of how to run clubs. "Bayern is filled with former players, who understand what Bayern Munich are like and they understand the history of the club and what it takes to remain consistent. "When I came to United, I had Sir Matt at the club and Bobby Charlton there also. They were a comforting part for me in the sense that I knew they could understand what I was looking to do and achieve. "That was because their philosophy was exactly the same as mine in what I was trying to achieve. They knew that I was embracing the philosophy of bringing back youth into the club and working the youth system. "I think that is what great clubs should be about. They should have people who understand the history of the club and we are fortunate that way."
